Position: Bilingual Para-Pro/Instructional Aide, Intervention Assistant, Jr High School is initial assignment
Classification: Classified Non-Supervisory Position; FLSA Non-Exempt
Reports to: Classroom Instructor, Principal, Program Director

Terms of Position: 180 School year calendar workdays, (prorated from date of hire);7.
25 hours per day,

Eligible for retirement contributions and plans.
Earned sick leave, 10 days per year or prorated from date of hire; personal days, 3 days per year or prorated from date of hire; up to 10 paid holidays per year.
Job Summary: Assist certified staff to perform instructional and support tasks related to the students’ educational development within the total school environment.
Assist students in English language acquisition.
Provide student academic instructional support under supervision of a certificated staff member that may include using computer virtual applications and software.
Bilingual Spanish preferred.
Typical Work:
Perform routine tasks in monitoring and assisting student progress in classroom and other school activities.
Provide age appropriate, engaging, interactive learning.
Proctor tests, quizzes, drills and other exercises designed by instructional staff.
Score objective tests/assessments and record grades.
Use computer and software skills to enter and access a variety student records; may provide virtual and distance learning.
Communicate in a respectful, friendly and helpful manner with parents as requested or assigned, keeping in mind that communications about a student's educational performance and progress lies with the instructor.
Aid students with special learning needs.
Assist staff in the development of teaching aids and materials.
Supervise students in halls, study halls, libraries, playgrounds, learning centers, cafeterias, transportation areas and crossing guard area.
Includes work outside in all types of weather.
Assist in organizing and monitoring recreational activities.
Accompany groups of students on field trips and other outings.
Perform basic clerical tasks for teachers (catalog, sort, file, assemble, reproduce and distribute classroom materials, check out equipment)
Provide social and emotion care of all students.
May provide attention to the needs of disabled or handicapped students.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma.
Bilingual Spanish fluency preferred.
An AA degree, or two years of college level coursework, or pass a basic skills test.
Required to complete State Fundamental Course of Study for para educators and committed to accomplish the required General Para Education certificate.
Successfully complete a written Spanish/English translation test if required.
Experience with children or students in an educational setting and / or evidence of an interest in supporting learning experiences for school aged students preferred.
Proficient and confident in use of computers and electronic devices and web-based applications including Google suite.
Possess basic clerical skills and a familiarity with first aid procedures.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally with assistance, 20 lbs occasionally unaided, up to 10 lbs frequently.
Able and expected to attend work as scheduled.
Able to model appropriate professional behavior.
Ability to solve practical problems, apply appropriate judgment and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to maneuver to perform the functions associated with activities including, kneeling, bending, squatting, lifting.
Expected to wear appropriate and safe attire and grooming for the learning environment.
Ability to work collaboratively, respectively and civilly with coworkers, students, families and community.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and district records required.
Required to participate and successfully pass a Washington State Patrol/FBI fingerprint background check.
