Head Girls Basketball Coach

Contracted: $5,000.
00/Temporary/Part-Time
This position instructs high school athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success in their program.
The employee must understand and abide by all building, Tacoma School District and Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) policies, regulations, procedures and guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Yakama Nation, Yakama Nation Tribal School and WIAA Policies, regulations, procedures and guidelines.
Knowledge of effective coaching practices/techniques for the particular sport.
Ability to comply with WIAA coaching standards.
Ability to motivate students.
Ability to exercise fairness in dealing with student athletes.
Ability to conduct oneself in an ethical and exemplary manner at all times.
Ability to maintain poise and composure during practice and games.
Ability to relate to students of differing athletic abilities.
Ability to establish and maintain effective work and student relationships with a variety of people in a multi-cultural, diverse socio-economic setting.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate athletic activities.
Ability to set-up and maintain accurate records and files.
Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and a minimum of three years of experience as an assistant coach; must be at least 21 years of age (WIAA regulation); or any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work and that meets federal and state requirements.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be evaluated.
First Aid Certificate, CPR card and AED training are required.
Must be able to pass a background check and fingerprint search.
Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
Must have no history of child abuse or neglect.
Must have no history or drug or alcohol abuse.
Special Requirements:
This job description is contacted position and will only run through the duration of the season.
Basketball season will rung form November 14, 2022 to March 4, 2023.
