PRIMARY FUNCTION: To serve as an Assistant Coach of the West Valley Boy’s/Girl’s Track & Field Program, including the coaching of JV and Varsity athletes, with in the HJ, sprints and relays.
THIS POSITION IS DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: West Valley High School Principal, Athletic Director, and Head Track & Field Coach.

Duties: Attend coaches meetings, practice sessions, meets as scheduled.
Take a lead role in the organizing and conducting of practices and meets, providing Athletic Director with copies of practice schedules and plans.
Assist the head coach and be willing to be mentored by him/her.
Assist in articulating and enforcing WVSD and WIAA rules/regulations for athletes.
Properly supervise school equipment and facilities usage.
Enter athletes into meets using an account on athletic.
net.
Teach and model the highest standards of conduct and sportsmanship during practices and contests.
Assist in developing a budget for basic equipment (ASB Budget) and for capital needs (Levy/General Budget).
Promote the entire interscholastic program of the school and direct the program in harmony with the total school program.
Be thoroughly acquainted with the contest rules and ensure that your athletes are aware of them as well.
Maintain WIAA coaching standards.
Emphasize safety precautions, and be aware of the best training and injury procedures.
Attend meetings as called by the athletic/activities director.
The pre- and post-season (evaluation) meetings are required as part of the coaching contract.
Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Credentials: Washington State Teaching Credentials Preferred.
Current First Aid/CPR card
required.
Good driving record required.
Willingness to drive a school van required.
Education: 4-year degree preferred.
Experience: Previous participation/experience at the high school level and/or comparable community
program preferred.
