Announcement # 2024-032 Issue Date: 01-31-24 Closing Date: 02-13-24 Law Enforcement Clerk (2) Two Positions Tribal Police Department of Public Safety Hourly Wage: $15.
74/Regular/Full-Time Incumbent performs highly confidential clerical support for the Tribal Police Department.
Collects, compiles and tracks data and statistical information.
Process daily operational and confidential department records and files.
Is required to perform under considerable stressful situations and use discretionary judgement when situations arise.
Examples of Work Performed: Performs duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Public Safety organizational chart and established chain of command.
Performs duties and responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws, guidelines, directives and the Yakama Nation Personnel Policies Manual.
Process operational and confidential department records and files; composes routine or recurring correspondence.
Reviews documents for accuracy, completion and conformance to established procedures.
Operates telephone equipment, fax machine, computer terminal, copy machine, printers, recorders and other equipment as required.
Greets and screens all visitors and telephone calls.
Maintains complex filing system.
Prepares documents according to established Archival procedures.
Enters and retrieves information from an automated police records system that requires a high degree of accuracy and confidential Performs daily document processing of various documents to include but not limited to the division, program, prosecutor and public, in a timely and efficient manner.
Broadcasts and transmits information by use of the 2-way radio system to patrol mobile units assigned to the vicinity and/or through to Tribal Police Communications Center.
Compiles and maintains accurate radio log, batch sheet, case log and/or daily log of all chronological incidents, phone calls and visitor contacts.
Reads Maps and Global Positioning Tracking System (GPS) to identify service area, landmarks and addresses to provide directions.
Maintains effective working relationship with law enforcement, businesses, community support groups, tribal and government programs or agencies.
Required to wear departmental issued uniform.
Abide by Yakama Nation Rules and Regulations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of modern secretarial skills and general office principles, practices and techniques.
Knowledge of and effective use of grammar.
Knowledge of tribal and governmental accounting practices and principles.
Basic knowledge of the Privacy Act and the Freedom of Information Act laws and regulations.
Knowledge of the Yakama Reservation, people and traditions.
Demonstrate reliability and punctuality.
Exhibit above average time and attendance.
Demonstrate above average computer and typing skills.
Ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with people at all levels of the organizational structure, with other Government, local agencies, Tribes and individuals.
Ability to collect and organize information.
Ability to adhere to high standards of personal conduct on and off the job.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of program and client information.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to work independently and productively with minimal supervision.
Ability to work effectively as a member of the team.
Ability to use advanced computer techniques to produce quality documents using word processor, spreadsheets, presentation software, and publishing software.
Ability to work as scheduled, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.
Minimum Requirements: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Three years of work experience in office support with one year of specialized experience in telecommunication, emergency services or fast paced multi-tasked public contact environment.
Required to pass pre-employment drug test.
Required to pass pre-employment background check.
No misdemeanor or felony convictions.
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
Required to maintain basic First Aid/ CPR certification.
Minimum keyboarding typing skill of 40 words per minute.
Required to sign a code of conduct and understand sanctions for misconduct.
Attend mandatory training for telecommunication operator certification.
Attend ACCESS Certification.
