Yakima Valley College is accepting applications for the position of Career and Wellness Program Manager A.
This is a full-time, grant funded, temporary classified position, plus a full state benefits package with an expected end date of June 30, 2028.
Reporting to the Director of the Relevance grant, the Career and Wellness Program Manager works with a Career Counselor and a Wellness Counselor to provide advocacy and intervention on behalf of students.
Essential Tasks ESSENTIAL TASKS: Joining a team led by a grant director, that is focused on grant goals of career readiness, campus wellness and leadership learning communities.
Assist with the development and offering of career and wellness related advising and workshops.
Under direction of the Director, oversees operating and administrative functions relating to the student center.
Provide direct career advising and wellness-focused services following established protocols.
Participate in pathway and college-wide events related to advising such as New Student Orientation, Express Enrollment, Advising day, and other related events.
Maintain a current understanding of financial aid, admissions, and registration processes and policies to support student access and retention.
Appropriately refer students to internal and external resources, advocating on their behalf when needed.
Help students build self-identities as college students and pathway students; assist them in developing their confidence and self-advocacy skills.
Support peer-to-peer networks.
Participate in ongoing professional development, including assigned conferences and workshops.
Understand and maintain confidentiality of student records as appropriate.
Ensure that equal opportunity, diversity, and cultural competence are integrated into this position's duties and responsibilities.
Ability to travel regularly between Grandview and Yakima campuses.
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Growth mindset, equity, enthusiasm for student success and ability to work in a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Earned master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
Case Management Mental health training Career advising Student support services KNOWLEDGE OF: Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Office, Excel and Outlook The unique challenges of underserved populations in education ABILITY TO: Communicate clearly in both verbal and written formats.
Interpret/implement established policies and procedures.
Build effective working relationships.
Work independently and balance a variety of priorities.
