.
Hand Woven Vintage African Tribal Rainstick/Musical Instrument.
Large sized at 39"long, plenty of projection & long sustaining sounds of falling rain.
Natural and soothing sounds for meditation, or musical composition combined with other instruments.
Can be played like a shaker as well.
(Wikipedia; A rainstick is a long, hollow tube partially filled with small pebbles or beans that has small pins or thorns arranged helically on its inside surface.
When the stick is upended, the pebbles fall to the other end of the tube, making a sound reminiscent of rain falling.
The rainstick is believed to have been invented by the Mapuches and was played in the belief it could bring about rainstorms.
) This beautiful and unique large rainstick was purchased at an Estate Sale of a Gentleman that traveled to Africa decades ago and commissioned this piece from a remote African Tribe.
It is in a gorgeous woven cream and black pattern.
