SUMMARY As the Assistant Controller, you will work under the guidance of and assist the Finance Director in preparing and reporting financial statements conforming to principles of accounting and regulatory requirements.
This includes complete financial reports and schedules, posting to the general ledger, accounting for revenues, providing for proper internal accounting procedures and controls.
The most essential tasks for which you will be responsible include: Compiling and analyzing financial information to prepare entries for the general ledger accounts.
Completing journal entries and conducting account reconciliation and analysis.
Ensuring that monthly bank reconciliations are completed.
Reconciling subsidiary ledgers (A/R) to the general ledger, investigating differences, working with the Finance Director to update the system for generally accepted accounting principles.
Timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and financial reports.
Preparing external reports related to funding in public assistance programs.
Assisting in the month end and yearly close process.
Developing system controls to ensure and maintain data accuracy and integrity.
Ensuring effectiveness of and improving internal controls.
Developing proper operational, data documentation and troubleshooting procedures.
Presenting various account reports to senior management and making suitable observations and recommendations.
Liaison with account software, system vendors and consultants.
Maintaining a fixed asset depreciation schedule.
Maintaining a chart of accounts.
Assisting with the annual audit preparation and provision of documents as requested from the auditors.
Assisting with special projects.
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES There are no supervisory responsibilities required in this position.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
You must have a minimum of five to seven years’ experience in accounting.
Willing to combine education and experience.
You must have proficiency in using a variety of computer software applications, including Excel and other management information systems.
You must have non-profit accounting and reporting experience.
Sage Intacct software experience preferred.
AURA Billing Software experience preferred.
You must have a keen eye for detail and strong communication skills.
You must possess the ability to quickly prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously with several distractions throughout the day.
You must possess the ability to handle a large volume of work without sacrificing quality.
ACCESS TO Protected HEALTH CARE INFORMATION Will have access to name, presence in the program, demographic data, eligibility, financial data, dates of service, admission history, and assessment information.

Mathematical Skills Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Proficiency with network computer applications and office experience required.
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, members of the Board of Directors and the community.
Ability to speak clearly and concisely in both oral and written communication.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of Sundown M Ranch corporate policies and procedures.
