Yakima Valley College is accepting applications for three Custodian 2 positions in the Administrative Services Division – Facility and Auxiliary Services.
This is a full-time classified position, the beginning salary is $2,764 per month for 40 hours per week, with periodic increments up to $3,558, plus a full state benefits package.
The Custodian 2 performs and is responsible for those custodial tasks and duties that provide and assure safe, healthy, and clean facilities conducive to the educational process within a prescribed area of responsibility.
The Custodian 2 is subject to shift work, including weekends, holidays and early mornings or evenings as assigned by the Custodial Service Manager.
Must be able to work overtime when needed, possibly even during periods of suspended operations for the rest of the campus.
Reassignment of daily work schedule to cover other areas when needed.
This position will report to the Manager of Custodial Services or the Director (or Assistant Director) of Facility Operations depending on the assigned site.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES QUALIFICATIONS: ABILITY TO: Be flexible in adapting to changes in priorities and assignments Read, write, follow written/oral directions in EnglishWork independently on assignments without close supervision and be part of a team environmentIdentify minor building problems, and report repairs in writing to the department supervisor KNOWLEDGE OF: Workplace safety practices, policies, and procedures to ensure the performance of safe work practices (eg SDS sheets)Proper procedures, methods, equipment, and cleaning solutions for cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces, floors, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Position requires a valid Washington State Driver's license AND a minimum age of 18 DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GEDMinimum of two years collective experience in custodial work, preferably within an educational environmentKnowledge and experience regarding proper disinfecting/sanitizing of surfacesBasic understanding of PC operation, MS Word, and OutlookBasic mechanical understanding and ability to learn PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 50 poundsBending at the waist; kneeling and squatting/stooping; repetitive arm/hand movement (extending the hands and arms to seize, hold, and grasp)Reaching above shoulder level (including stretching upwards on tiptoe maintaining balance), and standing for long periods SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Application Instructions: To apply for this position you MUST submit a complete YVC Online Employment Application, and include the following REQUIRED attachments: A cover letter describing how you meet the qualifications of this position (a generic cover letter will not be accepted).
