*Position Information* _Title:_ Resource Center Case Manager _FLSA Status:_ Hourly, Full-Time, Non-Exempt _Location:_ Resource Center _Reports to:_ Resource Center Program Manager *Overview *_*(what unique role does this position play within Rod’s House?)*_ The Case Manager at the Rod’s House Resource Center helps support a wide-spectrum of needs for the young people experiencing homelessness who access services.
Rod’s House Case Managers are passionate about working with young people, model positive behavior each day, are flexible in an often rapidly changing environment, and are youth-focused in all interactions with young people.
Case Managers focus on exiting a young person out of homelessness and into safe and stable housing through emotional, employment, education, and housing supports.
Case Managers, first and foremost, prioritize being a valuable team member, but also exude leadership skills while working with their colleagues.
*Duties and Responsibilities* _Direct Case Management_ * Establish positive relationships with youth and young adults; * Conduct intake interviews for new youth and young adults (ages 13-24), screening for program eligibility; * Develop individual case plans incorporating young people and Case Manager responsibilities; * While accessing the Resource Center; provide both emergent and support services that address the young person’s unique needs; * Complete and update Coordinated Entry housing assessments for each young person to ensure they are active in HMIS; * Collaborate with Behavioral Health Specialist to ensure young peoples’ needs are accounted for; * Work with Resource Center staff to provide youth-centered skills-building and support services; * Build relationships with community agencies and other Case Managers to maximize referral resources to assist young people in exiting into safe and stable housing; * Facilitate recreational, vocational, and life/job skill-training activities for young people; * Determine and maintain regularly scheduled case management meetings with each young person; * Treat all youth and young adults in a trauma-informed, strengths-based, culturally-sensitive manner.
_Other Responsibilities_ * Perform outreach in the community to increase awareness of Rod’s House programs and services; * Maintain accurate and quality client documentation in HMIS, InfoNet, BFET, and any other database Rod’s House uses; * Submit End of Month reports to supervisor; * Ensure standard operating procedures are clearing defined, updated, and followed; * Regularly assess policies, procedures and processes and recommend improvements; * Participate in program, department and agency meetings and trainings; * Participate in local and state interagency work groups, as needed.
* Participate in the annual Homeless Point In Time count; _Complete all duties as assigned and other duties as required.
_ *Required or Preferred Education and/or Experience* * One of the following (*required*): * A master’s degree in social services or a closely related field from an accredited school and one year of experience working with youth or young adults OR; * A bachelor’s degree in social services or a closely related field from an accredited school and tw0 years of experience working with children or youth OR; * A high school diploma or equivalent and five years of successful full-time experience in a relevant field working with children or youth; and (i) supervisory abilities that promote effective staff performance; and (ii) relevant experience, training, and demonstrated skills in each area that they will be managing or supervising.
* An understanding of and adherence to a strengths-based philosophy with youth and young adults (*required*); * Dedication to promoting an inclusive and diverse workplace through competency in equity, race, social justice, differently-abled, and LGTBQIA2S+ identities (*required*); * Experience and proven success in coaching and managing teams (*required*); * Bilingual (Spanish-English) (*strongly preferred*); * Experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma, specifically severe mental illnesses and substance use disorders (*preferred*); * Knowledge in human services, social work, education, or a related field (*preferred*); * Lived experience relevant to the population served (*preferred*).
*Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * * Must be at least 21 years of age (*required*); * Pass a Washington State criminal background check (*required*); * Pass a Federal (FBI) criminal background check (*required*); * Valid driver’s license and auto insurance is (*required*); * Possess skills and ability to work successfully with the unique needs of children in care; * Effective communication and problem solving skills; * Ability to work with young people in crisis; * Can employ professionalism and patience in high stress environments; * Understanding the importance of flexibility in a job; * Proven ability to create a system or process when one does not exist; * Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships; * Creative problem solver: * Willingness to learn and teach new things; * Strong verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details; * Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; * Proficient in using technology; * Contributes to a positive organizational culture; * Ability to maintain confidentiality; * Demonstrate commitment to supporting equity and inclusion; * Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for the Rod’s House mission.
*Work Conditions and Physical Requirements * This position requires daily interactions with youth experiencing homelessness, community members, and other social service providers.
Physical requirements for the position include frequent walking, hearing, seeing, speaking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, climbing, and repetitive motions.
This position could include exerting up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, pull, or move objects.
Ability to safely drive a company vehicle is strongly preferred.
_Rod’s House will reasonably accommodate qualified individuals with a disability so that they can perform the essential functions of a job unless doing so causes a direct threat to these individuals or others in the workplace and the threat cannot be eliminated by reasonable accommodation or if the accommodation creates an undue hardship to Rod’s House.
