Job Summary The Aviation Department at CWU is accepting applications to fill current and future full-time, part-time, quarterly and annual appointment lecturer positions to teach lecture and/or simulator lab classes in the courses/subject areas listed below.
This list is not all inclusive: other courses/subject areas may become available within the department.
Flight Courses: Aircraft systems (single or multi-engine turboprop, and transport aircraft), CRJ operations; CRJ AATD (simulator), FAA ground school classes (Private, instrument, commercial, multi-engine, CFI, and CFII), aviation physiology, national airspace system, human factors, meteorology, aviation weather services, and aviation safety.
Management Courses: Air Transportation, aviation management, aviation history, aviation legislation, aviation ethics, aviation security, airport management, airport operations, airport planning and design.
Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation or related field, and FAA certification to teach AF Courses Master’s Degree in Aviation or related field to teach AVM Courses Aviation industry experience in the course you wish to teach To teach flight courses: FAA Certified Flight Instructor certificate (or Advanced Ground Instructor and/or Instrument Ground Instructor certificates) with prior experience giving flight training in aircraft (CFI or Ground Instructor certificate must be current for ground school courses) Excellent communication skills including basic computer knowledge, including but not limited to use of multimedia and online course delivery.
Preferred Qualifications Doctoral Degree in Aviation or related field Background and experience to teach in all of the areas listed above Primary & advanced flight training in airplanes; CFI with minimum 1500 hours civilian CFI experience in airplanes Experience in instructing in multi-engine FTD’s (simulators) Collegiate aviation teaching experience Recent turbine-engine flight experience; multi-engine rating, MEI; CFII.
Experience delivering courses via distance education Pay & Work Schedule Pay: Based on the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement The minimum remuneration for the non-tenure-track titles for the 2023-2024 academic year will be: (a) Lecturer: $1,154 per workload unit for faculty with terminal degrees; $922 per workload unit for faculty without terminal degrees.
(b) Senior Lecturer: $1,269 per workload unit for faculty with terminal degrees; $1,013 per workload unit for faculty without terminal degrees.
Working Conditions:: This announcement will be used to develop a pool of applicants for positions in the department of Management through March 2024.
There is a possibility that selected applicants may be called on short notice to fill lecturer vacancies on a quarter-by-quarter basis.
Screening of applications begins immediately and will continue as needed.
The number of lecturer positions filled varies from quarter to quarter, depending upon the needs of the department.
Positions typically start at the beginning of an academic quarter.
