Certification as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist by HEW, or American Medical Technologists.
Maintain current BCLS Certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Evaluate and interpret laboratory results.
Specific knowledge related to function and use of scientific laboratory equipment.
Theoretical knowledge of testing procedures and their use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Ability to learn and use computer information systems effectively for the position.
Perform a variety of laboratory tests as ordered by the physician.
No Call or Phlebotomy!
Process specimen for tests as requested.
Operate laboratory equipment and perform laboratory testing, including:
evaluation of quality control and patient results
results input and reporting to the proper receiving area
instrument preventative maintenance and troubleshooting when needed
Perform job duties in compliance with hospital and laboratory safety policies and procedures.
Frequently interact and communicates with other departments/disciplines within the healthcare setting.
Demonstrates the ability to understand and react effectively to the unique needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups.
