” Position Summary: The Accounting Controller is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the accounting function overseeing the preparation of financial statements in conformity with GAAP; ensuring efficient processes and internal controls are in place to minimize risk and detect fraud; and recommend strategies and tactics to improve the accounting process.
The Controller also plays a crucial role in supporting leadership in understanding the financial position of the organization and its adherence to budget.

RESPONSIBLITIES Manage all financial and accounting activities, budgets, and reports.
Coordinate the preparation of internal and external audit materials and financial reporting.
Ensure compliance with all government financial partners.
Establish accounting policies, procedures and processes and monitor such compliance.
Guide financial decisions by presenting analysis and research showing the impact of decisions on the organization’s finances.
Serves as a liaison between the organization and auditors, ensuring adherence to financial control regulations.
Ensure effective internal controls and safeguards for the management of the organization’s financial assets, revenue, and expenditures.
Deliver timely and precise financial reports through consistent analysis of financial data.
Effectively communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Keep leadership informed of any progress or changes to the agency's financial status.
Support the agency's leadership in the yearly budgeting and planning procedure; manage and evaluate all fiscal plans and compare them to actual outcomes to recognize, clarify, and rectify discrepancies as necessary.
Support the Chief Financial Officer in engaging the board around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
Responsible for overseeing all financial, project/program, and grants accounting activities.
Ensure expenditures align with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund duration.
Prepare financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants.
Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer to manage organizational cash flow and cash flow forecasting.
Establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations.
Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with investment policy.
Maximize individual and organizational goals by leveraging the strengths of current finance team members.
Provide support in clarifying roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs.
Responsible for overseeing vendor management, as well as coordinating accounts payable, miscellaneous receivable and payroll activities.
Ability to process payroll and tax liabilities.
Completes periodic bank reconciliations.
Complies with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax fillings.
Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team.
Develop and implement training programs to optimize individual performance of team members.
Ability to delegate accordingly.
Provide leadership in enhancing internal communications with staff across all levels within the organization.

pdf QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
Certified Public Accountant and/or MBA preferred.
Experience: 5 years experience in a leadership or similar position with similar responsibilities.
