Starting the 2024-2025 School Year POSITION: 1.
0 FTE CTE/STEM Manufacturing Designer.
LOCATION: West Valley Innovation Center MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM Field.
Experience teaching coding/programming, excluding web languages.
Valid Washington State Teacher’s Certification.
CTE Certification or committment to obtain CTE Certification.
Must be able to articulate tool use hazards and main causes for hand tool mishaps.
Must be able to list the workplace tasks that require hand tools to accomplish.
Must be able to describe and select the appropriate hand tool to accomplish a particular workplace task.
Must be able to distinguish between tools that are similar in appearance, stating the commonly used terms for each tool and normal routine application.
Must be able to explain basic techniques and proper use of hand tools.
Must be able to identify and use equipment and tools for manufacturing.
Must be able to use portable power hand tools, including pistol grip drill motor, rivet gun, ratchet wrench, Microstop Countersink Cage, Lockbolt Puller, and Hi-Lok Ratchet Wrench, Nut Runner and Torque Wrench appropriately and safely.
Must be able to interpret a drawing to lay out a job, including the placement of holes, and selection of appropriate tools and fasteners to perform the job.
Must be able to use gauges appropriately.
Articulate general safety hazards associated with the operation of installed power shop equipment.
Must be able to list workplace tasks or functions that require power shop equipment to accomplish.
Must be able to describe and select the appropriate power equipment to accomplish a particular workplace function.
Must be able to explain the potential hazards of each individual power shop machine.
List and point to the safety controls used for each power shop machine and items to inspect prior to use.
Explain basic techniques and proper use of common power shop equipment and machinery, including the drill press, disk sander, belt sander, pedestal grinder, band saw, and the manual foot shear.
Evidence of maintaining a positive, productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues.
Evidence of alignment to Common Core State Standards in Construction Curriculum Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills with other staff members, organization, and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
Satisfactory annual performance evaluation for the past 5 years.
Dynamic, interactive, student involving, hands-on instructional style.
Must be committed to implementing and developing project-based learning.
Must be willing to teach in a flexible learning environment that allows students access to choice based and self-paced learning.
Must be able to work in a multi- age learning environment.
Must be committed to Mastery Based Learning and using the Empower Learning Management system.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience preparing students for AP Exams Experience with Python coding language Bilingual Preferred JOB DESCRIPTION Assume responsibility for the CTE Manufacturing program at the Innovation Center.
Make a commitment of time and energy required to teach all students, regardless of learning style or learning limitations.
Commit to bell-to-bell instruction using best practices including student evaluation (formative assessment).
Create a safe and positive learning environment for all students.
This includes adequately securing class and practice rooms when not physically present to supervise.
Hold CTE Advisory Meetings, minimum of three a year Advise student leadership organization Adhere to all West Valley School District and West Valley High School policies and expectations for staff and students.
Actively engage students in the learning process.
Regularly incorporate higher level thinking and analytical skills in instruction, assessment and performance.
Be a team player by establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships with others.
Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents and colleagues.
Be innovative and committed to the challenge of change in education.
Be committed to success for all students.
Participate in workshops and training sessions that support building and district programs and goals.
This includes monthly staff meetings and professional development days.

Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment and utilizing pertinent software applications e.

Must be efficient in preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: elements of library operation; concepts of grammar and punctuation; and age appropriate library/media materials.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data, and use basic, job-related equipment.
Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods.
Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize job-related equipment.
In working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans.
Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with technology including chromebooks is limited to moderate.
Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the function of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; working as part of a team; working with detailed information/data; and working with frequent interruptions.
Responsibility Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; providing information and/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget.
Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job’s functions.

Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting (able to lift 50 pounds and assisting in lifting over 50 pounds), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling;and significant fine finger dexterity.
Generally, the job requires 20% sitting, 20% walking, and 60% standing.
The job related is performed under a generally hazard free environment and in a clean atmosphere.
